Following in the footsteps of “Sir” Bob Geldolf, U2 Lead singer, Bono (Paul Hewson) is to receive an Honorary Knighthood. It is for his services to music and humanitarian work. Bono has campaigned for an end to World Poverty and helped to organise the Live 8 Conference in 2005.
In 2005, he was name by Time magazine as “Person of the Year”.
Bono is expected to receive the honour in the New Year in Dublin. as an Irish citizen, he will not be able to use the title of “Sir” however, as this is for British Citizens and those in the Commonwealth.
